Matty Bombs competed at the Australian Long Drive Championship QLD 2026 on 18 February. He went up against the country’s top long drivers in Queensland. At the time, he was Australia’s number one ranked long driver.
Matty’s longest drive of the day went 455 yards. His ball speed reached 225 mph, and his club head speed hit 155 mph.
Matty is a full-time tradie. As a result, his training happens before work, after work and whenever he can fit it in. Long drive rewards speed. However, that speed comes from repetition. Each player gets a set number of balls per round. Only the longest drive that lands inside the grid counts.
Queensland was the start of Matty’s 2026 season. After that, he travelled to World Long Drive Florida in May. Finally, he finished 7th in the Open Division final at the 2026 World Long Drive Championship in Reno.
